Portsmouth's executive chairman Peter Storrie has admitted that striker Jermain Defoe wants to leave the club, amid rumours of a return to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old frontman has also been linked with both Aston Villa and Manchester city, despite having been at Fratton Park for just under a year, scoring 17 goals in 36 appearances for Pompey.
Storrie told The News: "It looks like Jermain wants to go. That is something we will be speaking to him about.
"If Jermain goes it will be at our price and if there is an offer which appeals.
"We have always said we will not keep people who do not want to play for Portsmouth Football Club."
Manager Tony Adams had dropped a hint that Defoe could be on his way after leaving the England international on the bench for the 1-0 loss at Arsenal.
He said after the game: "I am determined to hold on to all of the players, but I want people who want to play for Portsmouth.
"We're in a scrap with 14 other clubs and if they don't want to play for Portsmouth, then they're no good to me.
"It's not reading the riot act, it's fact. If your head has been turned, if you're not trying everything to win games for the club, then I don't want you around."
